Chinese navy hospital ship to tour Gulf of Aden A Chinese navy hospital ship will leave China for the Gulf of Aden on Sept. 1 to offer medical services to Chinese escort missions in the waters, the Chinese Defense Ministry said here Monday.
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) hospital ship Peace Ark will also provide medical services to officers and soldiers of other countries conducting anti-piracy activities in the waters.
The ship will also call at Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, the Seychelles and Bangladesh.

AU to send 4,000 troops to Somalia, change of mandate still under consideration: AU commission chairman The African Union (AU) will send an additional 4,000 troops to Somalia while the change of the peacekeeping mandate is still under consideration, the African Union Commission Chairman Jean Ping told a press conference on Tuesday after the closing of the AU summit.
Jean Ping said that half of the 4,000 troops will be from the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) and the rest will be from Guinea and Djibouti.

UN welcomes "recent concrete steps" by Eritrea, Djibouti to resolve border dispute (2) "In the agreement, the two States decided to resolve, through a negotiated settlement, their border conflict," he said. "The agreement mandates the State of Qatar to establish a mechanism that would facilitate the demarcation, by an international company, of the common border between Djibouti and Eritrea."
