soil. Mothers and fathers who have had premature births, football pool

shock-absorbers and would not dwell too long on this slight national
inconvenience. Slight because it is as unserious as the royal rumble in

Nigeria: Military Rulers as Council of State Members The 1999 Constitution places an onerous responsibility, albeit advisory,
on the National Council of State. According to Paragraph 6 of the Third
Schedule Part 1 of the document, “The Council shall have power to:
(a) advise the President in the exercise of his powers with respect to:
(i) national population census and compilation, publication and keeping
of records and other information concerning the same; (ii) prerogative
of mercy; (iii) award of national honours; (iv) the Independent National
Electoral Commission (including the appointment of members of that
Commission); (v) the National Judicial Council (including the
appointment of the members, other than ex-officio members of that
Council); and (vi) the National Population Commission (including the
appointment of members of that Commission); and (b) advise the President
whenever requested to do so on the maintenance of public order within
the Federation or any part thereof and on such other matters as the
President may direct.”

Gambia: Kebba Kinteh - APRC Militant (1952-2010) Kebba Kinteh, ex-administrative secretary of the Alliance for Patriotic
Reorientation and Construction (APRC) and one of the foremost promoters
and first regional coordinator of the July 22nd Movement in the Lower
Baddibu District, Norht Bank Region, departed this life suddenly about
forty days ago while travelling on board a public transport en-route to
Banjul for the purpose of "seeing off" the President of the
Republic and delegation to Barra on the start of the first leg of the
President's ' Dialogue With The People Tour'. He was 58 years old and
lived in Bundung Bantaba in the Kanifing Municipality.

over. Two slogans are now part of the Gambian political vocabulary. One
originated from the first Republic and the second was coined during the
recent tour of the President. Many middle aged Gambians could remember
the slogan which featured in every rally held during the immediate post
1981 coup era. "Ning i Mang Ku Keh Ku Te La," meaning (if you
